El Living Lab
El Lacani Living Lab italiano, ubicado en el observatorio Berchidda-Monti (Cerdeña), promueve sistemas agro-silvopastoriles sostenibles. Involucra a actores — agricultores locales, jóvenes, mujeres e instituciones — mediante entrevistas, talleres y experimentos prácticos para abordar presiones ecológicas, económicas y climáticas que amenazan las prácticas tradicionales.

Las interacciones identificaron retos urgentes: cambio climático, volatilidad económica, abandono de tierras, poco relevo generacional. Gran interés en soluciones innovadoras y prácticas: técnicas microbianas para fertilidad del suelo, herramientas de manejo del pastoreo, y nuevos modelos de negocio para empresas locales y empleo juvenil. Logros: co-diseño e implantación de ensayos sobre salud del suelo y eficiencia del pastoreo, con agricultores implicados. Iniciativas como la “Escuela de Pastores” y eventos juveniles han dinamizado la comunidad, con ≈100 jóvenes participantes. Acuerdos estratégicos con instituciones locales y redes GAL han reforzado la capacidad de escalar innovaciones y dinamizar economías locales. Se abordan la gobernanza, la recogida de datos estructurada y la implicación constante de actores. En conjunto, el Lacani Living Lab integra ciencia y conocimiento local, impulsando la resiliencia de los ecosistemas silvopastoriles y creando oportunidades duraderas, especialmente para mujeres y jóvenes. Modelo eficaz de innovación colaborativa para restauración ecológica y revitalización socioeconómica en el Mediterráneo.

Nucleo di Ricerca sulla Desertificazione - Università degli studi di Sassari
NRD is a research center of the University of Sassari that promotes multidisciplinary research on desertification. NRD’s activities are carried out within the framework of programmes funded by the EU, international agencies, the national government and the Autonomous Region of Sardinia. NRD includes about 40 scholars and approximately twenty young researchers from various disciplines including agronomy, environmental sciences, hydrogeology, pedology, plant protection, sociology, economics, etc.
Over the years, NRD has gained increasing visibility on the international scene, assuming the role of general secretariat of DesertNet International, a think-tank of researchers involved in the fight against desertification, accredited to the UNCCD. NRD also leads the Global Network of Dryland Research Institutes (GNDRI), an association of institutions (not individual researchers) active in dryland research, which aims to promote institutional interactions to strengthen cooperation in research

It serves as a national reference point for farm-based cheesemakers, offering professional training, technical support, and advocacy.The association fosters knowledge exchange and collaboration among producers, aiming to enhance the economic and social sustainability of agricultural cheesemaking.
It also represents its members at the European level through participation in networks like FACE (Farmhouse and Artisan Cheese and Dairy Producers European Network).
